The book tells the true story of a girl who is fortunate to belong to two countries, two cultures, two languages. Born of a Brazilian mother and an American father, she learned English, the language of her father's country, and at the same time learned Portuguese, the language of her mother's country.
She is a bilingual girl and also a bicultural girl. She goes fluently between two languages, but it is much more than that: she has become part of the culture of each of the two countries. Each country has its customs, its habits, its ways of living. It is not easy to feel integrated and happy in two different cultures, but this is how the girl feels. She is not an American girl + a Brazilian girl - 1 + 1. She is much more than 2, because she doesn't feel like two people, one from one country, one from the other.
